Parents, Players, Never Heard of Classics AAU Basketball?

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer organization, dedicated to promoting the development, growth, and appreciation of sports in the growth of our area's youth. We have been around since 1981 - one of the first girls AAU basketball organizations in the DC area. We have remained small, and focus on developing high quality players and teams. We do not form teams just to give everyone who shows up at tryouts a team to play on. We have at most 2 to 3 teams in each age group. Not all tryouts athletes may make a team and returning players may not make and continue on a team if they don't bring their A+ game to tryouts!!

Over the last few years, our girls teams have qualified for the AAU Nationals and rank among the top teams in the country in their age divisions. Our teams are also consistent winners in area leagues and tournaments. In 2002, our 1988 and 1990 girls teams qualified for the National Championships, with the 1990's finishing 5th in the Nation! In 2003, the 1990's again finished 5th in the Nation. In 2004, our 1988 and 1992 teams competed in their respective Division 1 National Championships. In 2005, our 1994 team placed 5th in the Division 2 AAU Nationals and our 1988 team placed 16th at the U.S. Junior Nationals. In 2006 our 1994-Moten  team placed 4th in the Division 2 AAU Nationals. In 2007, our 1992 team placed 17th in the Division 1 Nationals and our 1996 team, placed 13th in the Division 2 Nationals. In 2008, our 13U/94 team placed 5th in the Division 2 AAU Nationals out of 38 teams. In 2009, our 14u/94-Moten team placed 6th in the Division 2 AAU Nationals; most other teams opted not to attend due to economic considerations. Our boys program is in its third year and our teams are developing and winning local tournaments as well as qualifying for and attending AAU Nationals. In 2008, our 9u and 12U boys teams qualified for AAU nationals. In 2009, our 10u and 13u boys teams qualified and our 10u boys placed 6th in the DIvision 2 AAU Nationals.

We are an all volunteer, non-profit organization with committed and dedicated coaches, parents, and players. Teams are individually coached and managed. The club supports team, player and coach development, and tryouts with minimal annual dues of $75/player/season ($150/year). Team costs for uniforms, gym time, tournaments, leagues, coaches expenses and supplies are additional and typically can  range from $400-800 for the Fall-Winter season and $600-$1200 for the Spring-Summer season including Potomac Valley AAU District and AAU National Championship events. Actual costs will depend on the team's plan and competition tempo. Teams are encouraged to use our eScrip.com fundraising program, solicit tax deductible donations as Classics is a 501(c)3 entity, and hold other fundraising events to support the team. Also, we appreciate the support of many sponsors - see our
Sponsors Page for more details!
